Here's how often prices go up in popular categories during Black Week
Black Week doesn't automatically mean discounts - always check the price!
It's easy to get caught up in the Black Friday sale frenzy, but it's essential to be cautious. Not all products become cheaper during Black Week; in fact, many of them actually increase in price. We examined the price trends in ten of the most popular categories during Black Week over the past three years, and we found that a significant portion of the products did, in fact, go up in price.
Black Week 2022
- LEGO: 26 per cent became more expensive
- Jackets: 17 per cent became more expensive
- Trainers & Casual Shoes: 17 per cent became more expensive
- Perfume: 16 per cent became more expensive
- Game Consoles: 14 per cent became more expensive
- Headphones: 13 per cent became more expensive
- Smartwatches: 13 per cent became more expensive
- Mobile Phones: 11 per cent became more expensive
- Tablets: 11 per cent became more expensive
- TVs: 10 per cent became more expensive
Always check the price history
It's not uncommon for stores to raise prices before a sale and then lower them again to create the illusion of significant discounts. In our price history, you can immediately see if there's any price manipulation before Black Friday and whether the pricing is right for you. This way, it becomes easier to plan your purchases and make informed decisions.
We have recently improved our price history feature, available on all product pages. The graph displays the lowest price over time, with important dates marked in pink. You can also see which stores offered the lowest price and choose to view the price history for a specific store.

Daily Deals
When we improved our price history, we also upgraded our Daily Deals page. There, we gather offers that we consider to be particularly good right now. We track the price trend for three months and compare it to the current product price. If the price is lower than expected, we add the offer to this list. On Daily Deals, you'll find all genuine sale offers during Black Friday and Black Week, as well as the best price reductions on all other days of the year.
